Descent And Dignified Employment

Uganda’s integration into the global market economy has created jobs and attracted investment, but the benefits of capitalism have not been equitably distributed. Many Ugandans especially in the informal sector, low-wage jobs, and precarious employment face poor working conditions, job insecurity, low pay, and lack of social protection. Capitalism, when unchecked, often prioritizes profit over people, leading to worker exploitation, erosion of rights, and rising inequality.
In this environment, employed individuals are vulnerable to systemic pressures that undermine their dignity, well-being, and long-term economic security. This program addresses these challenges by promoting decent work as a human right and a foundation for inclusive economic development.

To promote decent, dignified, and equitable employment for all workers in Uganda by addressing exploitative labor practices and improving working conditions in line with international labor standards.
